The novel, “Collar”,
written by David Comegys tells the story of an Episcopal priest named Fr.
Kit Whitney, his wife and children. Just published, readers encounter the
good, the bad and the wonderful in the ministry of Fr. Whitney and his
quirky family from the 1930s to 2000. Readers will laugh and perhaps
cry as the Whitneys face angry, demanding
power players; bitterness from those insisting that the Whitneys
live a more modest lifestyle, and tackle a Church whose membership peaked
in 1965 with 3,615,000 members, falling to 2,297,000 by 2000. One learns
why Fr. Whitney resigned as rector of one of the country’s largest
Episcopal churches.
